Privacy policy
What we store about you, who helps us run the site, and how to export or delete it.

The short version
We store only what we need to run your account and the features you use. We don’t sell your data, show ads, use advertising trackers, or set analytics cookies. You can download everything or delete your account at any time.
What we store, and why
Account: your account id, display name, handle, profile picture link and bio, so you have a profile. Your email address, from your sign-in, so we can send the price-drop alerts you ask for; it is never shown to anyone.
What you do on purpose: favorites, lists and their target prices, collection, reviews, ratings, votes, “helpful” marks, reports you make, and the price-drop alerts we sent you. This is the service itself.
Technical data: our servers keep short-lived logs (such as IP address, page requested and errors) to keep the site secure and working. Write actions are rate limited per account.
Who helps us run EsScents
Supabase handles sign-in (with Google or email) and hosts the database. Google Cloud runs our server and stores encrypted nightly backups. Vercel serves the website. Resend delivers price-alert emails. Sentry receives error reports so we can fix bugs; we configure it not to collect personal data beyond what an error contains.
When you use the EsScents assistant, your messages and the conversation so far are sent to Anthropic, whose Claude models write the answers. We don’t store the conversation: it stays in your browser tab and is gone when you close it. We keep only a count of messages and their cost. Don’t share personal details in the chat; Anthropic processes them under its commercial terms for API customers.
These providers process data only on our instructions. Some are based in the United States, so your data may be stored and processed there.
Analytics and cookies
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you or follow you across sites.
The only cookies EsScents sets are the ones that keep you signed in. When you follow a retailer link, the retailer (or its affiliate network, such as the eBay Partner Network) may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
How long we keep it
Account data stays until you delete it. Deleting your account removes your profile, lists, collection, reviews, votes and alerts at once; they disappear from backups within 30 days, when the oldest backup is deleted. Server logs are kept for about 30 days.
Your rights and choices
Download everything we store from Account › Settings › Download my data, correct your profile there, turn price-alert emails off, or delete your account.
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or US state privacy laws) you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. For anything you can’t do from your account, write to hello@esscents.app.
Children
EsScents isn’t meant for children, and accounts are for people 16 and over. If you believe a child has created an account, tell us and we’ll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so on the site before the change takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version.
