Who we are

EsScents is an independent fragrance guide run by one developer. “We” and “us” mean EsScents; “you” means anyone using the site. By using EsScents you agree to these terms, the privacy policy and the content guidelines. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Using EsScents

EsScents is free. You can read everything without an account. An account lets you save favorites, keep lists with target prices, track your collection, rate, vote and review.

You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum age to consent to online services where you live if that is higher, to create an account. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens on your account.

What you post

You keep ownership of your reviews, ratings and votes. By posting them you give EsScents a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, show, excerpt (for example as a quote on a fragrance page) and include them in aggregates such as average ratings, for as long as they are on the site. Deleting a review or your account ends that licence, except for anonymous aggregates already computed.

You promise that what you post is your own honest experience, doesn’t copy anyone else’s writing, and follows the content guidelines.

What isn’t allowed

Don’t harass people, post hateful, sexual or illegal content, impersonate anyone, post spam or advertising, or manipulate ratings (for example with several accounts or paid reviews).

Don’t scrape or copy the site in bulk, probe or overload it, get around rate limits or bans, or use it to build a competing database.

Moderation and suspension

We may hold, edit for formatting, or remove content that breaks these terms or the guidelines, and suspend or close accounts that do so repeatedly or seriously. You can delete your account at any time from Account › Settings.

Prices, retailers and links

Prices come from retailers and marketplaces such as eBay and are refreshed several times a day, so they can be out of date. The retailer’s page always has the final price, stock and terms; any purchase is between you and the retailer, not EsScents.

Some retailer links are affiliate links that can earn EsScents a commission (see the affiliate disclosure). Price-drop alerts are a convenience; we don’t guarantee that an alert arrives, or arrives before a price changes again.

Our content and trademarks

Fragrance descriptions, accords and other editorial content on EsScents are our own or come from open data, credited in our data sources. Brand and fragrance names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to identify their products; EsScents isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by any brand or retailer.

No warranties, limited liability

Fragrance information is curated with care but can be incomplete or wrong. EsScents is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows.

To the fullest extent the law allows, EsScents isn’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for anything a retailer does or doesn’t do. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version, and significant changes will be announced on the site before they take effect. Continuing to use EsScents after that means you accept the new terms.
